Why I Stopped Wearing Traditional Perfume (And What I Use Instead)

For years, I never questioned my perfume.

If it smelled good, I wore it.
If it lasted all day, even better.
And honestly? I thought “luxury fragrance” meant higher quality.

But then I started paying attention… and everything changed. I’d read a study on how the “fragrance” came to be, and that was a game-changer!

What most people don’t realize is that the word “fragrance” on a label can hide hundreds (sometimes thousands) of undisclosed ingredients.

And many of them?
Are linked to hormone disruption, headaches, skin irritation, and long-term sensitivity.

That was my turning point.

I stopped wearing any for a while.

I didn’t want to give up wearing a scent — I just wanted something that actually aligned with how I live now: cleaner, simpler, and more intentional.

That’s when I discovered a completely different approach to fragrance.

Not synthetic.
Not mystery ingredients.
Not “inspired by nature”… but actually from nature.

These fragrances are:

• 100% naturally derived
• free from synthetic chemicals and common irritants
• made with plant-based ingredients and essential oils
• fully transparent — every ingredient is listed
• sustainably sourced and cruelty-free

And the difference?

It’s not just in what’s not in them — it’s in how they feel.

Instead of overwhelming, artificial scents…
they’re layered, evolving, and personal.

One might start bright and citrusy…
soften into florals…
and settle into something warm and grounding throughout the day.

It actually feels like your scent becomes part of you — not something sitting on top of your skin.

And here’s the part I didn’t expect…

Choosing a scent became less about “what smells good”
and more about:

✨ how I want to feel
✨ how I show up
✨ the energy I carry into my day

Some days I want something soft and feminine.
Other days, something bold and grounding.
Sometimes warm and cozy.
Sometimes fresh and outdoorsy.

And instead of guessing, I found a simple guide that breaks all of this down — from scent personalities to ingredient transparency to how to choose what actually fits you.

It made everything feel easy, not overwhelming.

If you’ve ever:
• felt sensitive to perfume
• wondered what’s actually in your fragrance
• or just wanted something cleaner without sacrificing luxury

This is such a refreshing place to start.

I’ve been sharing this guide with friends because it explains everything in a way that actually makes sense — and helps you figure out what you’d love before you buy anything.

Here’s to your best day,

Nancy

PS – In a couple of weeks, we will have an in-person discussion and experience around this topic.
