Starting an Exercise plan, Slow and Steady does win the Race.

Are your exercising? What keeps you from exercising?

If you’re having trouble beginning an exercise plan or following through, you’re not alone. Many of us struggle to get out of the sedentary rut, despite our best intentions.

  1. Ditch the all or nothing attitude.
  2. Be kind to yourself
  3. Check your expectations
How hard do I need to work?

For most people, moderate exercise is the most beneficial for overall health; you don’t need to keep intensifying your workouts or sweat buckets. In fact, exercising too strenuously can sometimes lead to diminishing returns on your fitness levels or cause injuries or other problems.

Moderate activity means:

  1. That you breathe a little heavier than normal, but are not out of breath. For example, you should be able to chat with your walking partner, but not easily sing a song.
  2. That your body feels warmer as you move, but not overheated or very sweaty.

I take a jazzercise class and walk, with some weight training at home.  I also like to bike when the weather is good.

Tell me what you like to do or have done in the past.

How about a new sport or activity – any ideas – I’d like to learn ballroom dancing!

I think the idea here is to get moving and enjoy what you do.
