This first weekend of September came in cooler than expected — and then the rain came. Real rain, the kind we’d been waiting on for a while. There’s something about a dry season finally breaking that makes you stop and just notice it.
The grandkids are back to coming over for mornings, and this fall looks different than last one. They’re older now, and I invested in car seats this summer — so instead of staying put, we can actually go places. Visit the sites around us. It’s expanded how we live together in a really good way.
Our calendars filled up fast this month, too. Work, school, sports, the ranch, the grandkids — all of it, all at once. That’s just what September does.
But I’ve stopped trying to just get through a full season. I’d rather be well enough to actually be in it — present for the people and moments I love, not just checking them off.
